The porn industry has long been a topic of debate and scrutiny, and for good reason. One of the most pervasive issues within the industry is the overwhelming influence of men in positions of power and decision-making. This imbalance often leads to the perpetuation of harmful stereotypes, unrealistic portrayals of sex, and a lack of diversity in the content produced. From the types of scenes depicted to the treatment of performers, the male-dominated nature of the industry has far-reaching consequences that impact both creators and consumers alike.

I’m not porn shaming, but this content sucks for the majority of humans on Pornhub. The porn topics seen that have to do “teens” or “step parents” are disappointing on many levels. How are these things sexy? These scenes seem to serve the inexperienced young person who lacks creative imaginations and a sense of true sexual maturity. While I don’t want to porn shame, I do want to enlist a call to action for more women to direct more real and natural looking sex between mature, consenting adult who do not have some sort of teen fetish or incest desire.

Who is Owen Grey, Small Hands, or Kate Marley? They are popular adult film stars for several reasons. Firstly, they bring a unique blend of talent, charisma, and authenticity to their performances, captivating audiences with their natural chemistry and genuine passion. Secondly, their willingness to push boundaries and explore diverse genres within the adult entertainment industry sets them apart, appealing to a wide range of viewers with varying tastes and preferences. Additionally, their active engagement with fans through social media and other platforms fosters a strong sense of connection and loyalty, further solidifying their status as beloved figures in the world of adult entertainment.

Instead of naming a video like this: Avery Christy tells Stepbro, “I Don’t Want ANYONE Knowing Im Jacking my Stepbrother (come on, who actually salivates over this title?). But people DO want to see the video. How about “Avery Christy tells Fuckboi, “I Don’t Want ANYONE Knowing Im About To Suck and F*** The Biggest Cock I’ve seen While on a Corporate TEAMS call”. This is far more realistic of a fantasy as many of us spend too much time on TEAMS calls or have masturbated while on them in the past. Rebrand the video, set a computer in front of the couple, and let them F*** away. You’ll likely garnish another 4 million views with a completely different audience.

One of the most concerning aspects of mainstream porn is its reliance on tired and problematic tropes, such as pseudo-incest and agressive non-pleasureable (looking) sex with “teens”. These themes not only perpetuate harmful stereotypes but also contribute to a culture of misogyny. By prioritizing shock value over ethical considerations, the industry prioritizes profit over the well-being of performers and consumers. There is a place for this, but it’s not on the Pornhub home page.

Moreover, the lack of diversity in mainstream porn is striking. Performers of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and people with disabilities are often underrepresented or marginalized in pornographic content. This not only reinforces harmful stereotypes but also alienates large segments of the audience who crave more inclusive and representative content.

Another significant issue is the exploitation and mistreatment of performers, many of whom enter the industry out of desperation or coercion. The lack of regulation and oversight in the industry allows for rampant abuse and exploitation, with performers often subjected to unsafe working conditions and inadequate pay. If you are watching porn performed by adults 30 and above, you are likely watching people who are VERY willing to participate in this industry.

If more women were in control of content production in the porn industry, there is a strong likelihood that the quality of porn would greatly improve. Women bring a unique perspective and sensibility to the table, one that prioritizes authenticity, consent, and empowerment. By centering the experiences and desires of women, porn produced by and for women would be more inclusive, diverse, and honestly, HOT.

Empowering female creators and performers to take control of the porn industry would not only lead to better representation but also challenge the existing power structures and norms. It would create space for more authentic and relatable portrayals of sex and sexuality, free from the constraints of male-centric fantasies and stereotypes.

Furthermore, increased female representation in the industry would likely lead to a greater emphasis on communication, consent, and mutual pleasure in pornographic content. Instead of focusing solely on male pleasure and domination (there is a place for this, but it feels like the majority), porn produced by women would prioritize the needs and desires of all parties involved, creating a more fulfilling and enjoyable experience for viewers.

In addition to content production, the involvement of more women in all aspects of the porn industry, including directing, writing, and marketing, would lead to a more inclusive and equitable industry overall. It would challenge the status quo and pave the way for a more ethical and sustainable approach to porn production.

Of course, it's important to recognize that simply putting women in positions of power is not a panacea for all the problems in the porn industry. Structural change is needed at every level, from regulation and oversight to cultural attitudes and norms. However, increasing female representation is undoubtedly a step in the right direction towards creating a more ethical, diverse, and inclusive porn industry.
